selection and rejection of my photographs - amber

I am going to use this photograph for my front cover because it is the best photo where the model is looking directly at the camera. Although it is slightly blurred near his hand I am going to cover it over on adobe photo shop with a splash advertising an article that is inside my magazine. Once I have cropped it to the right size I will edit the background to best suit the magazines house colours and style. 

This photograph is a possible choice for my double page spread. I would have liked to have used this for my front cover image but the model is not looking at the camera therefore it is no good. I think the background really suits the ‘indie’ theme of the magazine and the bag on the floor fits with the colour scheme well.

Originally this was going to be the image I used for the front cover, but I have decided to use this image on the contents page instead. This image will have a splash on it indicating what page the double page spread is on and it will go next to the ‘Features’ column. The colours he is wearing are perfect because the colour scheme me and my partner decided on using our questionnaire results is blue and purple, because the model is wearing different shades of blue I will edit the background on adobe photo shop so it is purple.

Although I like this picture, because of the lighting, the subject has a bright outline compared to the rest of his face and body which is dark due to shade. The photo isn’t central with too much space above the subject’s head for a shot that was to be on the contents page or the DPS. Also, in the bottom left hand corner the subject’s foot has been cut off the shot. 

This image does not have any flaws in the way that it has no blurred areas, it isn’t out of focus and the lighting is perfect, however the photograph isn’t central. There is too much space above the head, too much background and the bag in the bottom right hand corner has been partially cut from the photograph. Therefore I will not be using this image in my final magazine.

This image is almost identical to the one I have chosen for my contents page, the lighting is slightly darker on this image than the other due to the sun going behind the clouds, therefore I choose the better lit one of the two.
